Kira update

Thanks so much to those of you who sent good wishes Kira's way and offered your thoughts about her visit to the vet last week. As Jeff pointed out (anonymously) on my last post, it turned out that Kira's cut had abscessed and so in a way it was probably good that we took her in, even though it was so expensive. The thing is that she had shown no sign of discomfort and hadn't even been giving that area special attention - so who knows if she even was aware of her condition or not?

I think I'm prone to the knee-jerk "call the vet if she sniffles" reaction now that Kira's getting so much older - she's been with us for eleven years now, and we've seen her grow from a friendly kitten to a neurotic adult cat who is entering her senior years. Every time I see a lump or bump on her skin I think "cancer!" but so far she's managed to stay remarkably healthy. Let's hope that continues.
