What we're up to

As the summer draws to a close, I'm trying to plan things out so that our fall can go smoothly. My current plan is to take three classes this fall, which is considered "full time" though most full-timers take four or five classes. I'll have to decide during the first week whether this is too much - I might have to drop down to just two. Anyway, for the time being I'm signed up for Calculus II, Physics, and an introductory programming course. Taking the summer semester off was definitely a good decision - I have been able to relax, take care of a lot of family and household stuff, and am now looking forward to delving back into my studies.

Megan came home at the beginning of August, after spending a fun month in Ontario visiting my parents and attending camp, which she rated a 9.5 out of ten. We spent the next couple of weeks in a big rush to finish up our costumes for an anime convention which was held this past weekend, up at Simon Fraser University here in Burnaby. This was great fun for all of us; I will post some photos as soon as I can.

Right now both kids are at day camp, which also happens to be at SFU. Calum's attending a two-week camp for five and six year olds which includes a good mix of crafts, games, swimming and sports. Megan signed up for "video production" in which the kids spend five days getting a quick crash course in making a short film, which they are filming today and will be editing and presenting tomorrow. Next week is their last week off before school resumes. We'll be needing to buy school supplies and back-to-school clothes. I can't believe how quickly this summer has gone!

Last but not least, Jeff continues to work hard on his current project at work. His foot injury is all better - thankfully it was just a bad sprain, and no bones were broken. In his spare time, now that he's done making the (awesome, finely detailed) swords for our convention costumes, he is looking forward to getting started on some of the new model kits he's picked up lately - a bunch of Gundams as well as three "Evas" (which are a slightly different take on the whole "giant fighting robot" theme that seems to be so fascinating to the Japanese) from Neon Genesis Evangelion.

If you're on facebook, look me up - I've been trying to put daily updates on there and would be happy to add my blog readers to my "friends" list -- happier still if you'll challenge me to a game of Scrabble!

If you play scrabble with Vicki, be forewarned that she gets all the good tiles (hee hee just kidding). But I have to say, in one game, when I got two draws in a row with nothing but vowels and one consonant, I became disenchanted with my favorite game. :-)
