Megan is off!
...for a fun-filled vacation, all on her own, in the humid and mosquito-filled land of Ontario.
We celebrated her last night at home on Wednesday by fulfilling her request for a family evening at the mall. We played a few games of DDR (Dance Dance Revolution, her new obsession) and then ate at the Japanese restaurant near the arcade, which features kaiten-zushi, aka conveyor belt sushi as part of its "all you can eat" option. Stuffed full of sushi, miso soup, zaru soba and the wonderful chicken katsu (which goes best with the bulldog sauce we recently discovered is a staple condiment in Japanese homes), we headed back to the arcade for more DDR fun.
Here are Megan "OMG, my dad is so weird!" and Jeff "I love being a goof and embarrassing my kids!" posing in the restaurant.

Here are the kids playing DDR (well, mostly Calum - it is so darn cramped in that arcade thanks to their efforts to cram in as many games as they possibly can, and it was easier to get Calum on the camera screen...).
With school over and Megan safely packed up and with her grandma, Calum and I find ourselves with the rare day where we don't have anything planned or any place we need to be. I took him to his early morning swimming lesson, where he got to try out his new snorkel (video to come once he figures out how to use the darn thing) and now he's happily playing games while I catch up on some blogging and housework. I've got big plans for Megan's room, which started out with opening her window and her door to air the place out; next I'm going to tackle the mess and the dust. (And yes, Megan, if you're reading this, I do remember our conversation where I promised not to throw out anything that isn't obviously garbage.)

Having just fixed up one child's incredible pit of a room and getting ready to start another, I extend sympathy to your quest on M's room. But, my youngest seems to have appreciated my efforts, and so will you.
Love the picture of J&M, as well.
