our week

Well, it's been a pretty interesting week - lots of highs and lows. I've had some stress with my volunteer work, but also some good experiences like accrediting a woman in Spain that I've been writing to for three years. Calum's stomach bug was intense but he bounced back very quickly and the next morning he was as chipper and bouncy as ever. The rest of us seem to have escaped it somehow - phew! And Jeff's project is getting really close to being over. He's joined us for dinner every night this week and sometimes even stays home for the rest of the evening. Last night he came home after work and said they were at zero bugs. So, the end is definitely in sight. I'm looking forward to taking off for a weekend in Victoria as soon as this is really over.

Today was one of those days where you can *feel* spring - pretty wild on January 28th. It was ten degrees outside, and most of the day it was brilliantly sunny. The mountains looked beautiful. The grocery store had a huge display of primulas outside for 95 cents each in every colour of the rainbow, so we bought a deep violet coloured one. It's feeling like winter is almost over - but how can it be, so early in the year? Surely even in Vancouver we will get more snow...! Our first winter here has been a pretty interesting experience.
