Just me and the boy

This weekend, Jeff has taken Megan to Seattle to attend her very first nerd-fest - also known as an anime convention. They will spend three days surrounded by people who love Japanese cartoons, comics and culture as much as Megan does. She's been looking forward to this for so long - the trip is part of her 2006 Christmas present - and last night she spent hours meticulously packing, making sure she had everything on the lists which were posted on the convention website. Sakura-con is the largest anime convention in the Pacific Northwest so I am pretty sure she will have a great time. I hope Jeff also finds plenty to keep him entertained.

Meanwhile, Calum and I are holding down the fort, ostensibly staying home so that I can study for my final exams coming up next week. Today I was only slightly successful with my study efforts, so hopefully I'll be more productive tomorrow. As well as study time, I'll be taking Calum to our Taekwondo classes and I've offered to take him to see the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. Given a choice I'd definitely rather spend three days at an anime convention than see this film, but such is life. Anyway, he hasn't made up his mind yet whether or not he wants to see it - he keeps going back and forth, since the movie trailer is suggesting there may be scary monsters in it and in spite of watching all kinds of fantasy violence during his short life he is developing a fear of such things. But on the other hand, he loves the ninja turtles. I think he can handle it but it'll be just as much fun to hang out at home and play some board games if he decides to opt out.

I've stayed up way past my bedtime tonight catching up on a few weeks' worth of Amazing Race episodes so I'm off to get some sleep in preparation for some hard work doing calculus tomorrow...

Cae is pretty much the same. He'll watch anything on tv, but he decided not to go see TMNT because it might be "too scary". *shrug* Guess it must be the big screen and loud volume more than anything.
