This and That
Someone (my brother?) wrote a comment replying to my complaint about the lack of Tim Hortons around here. It's true that Vancouver, particularly this part of downtown, is over-run with Starbucks and the local alternative called Blenz. This is great if you want to pick up a latte or a frappucino or whatever. It's not so great if you are out with two hungry kids and need to pick up something quick for them to eat. A $3 slice of banana bread is no substitute for a Tim Hortons bagel with cheese! I can tell I'm going to have to be more organized so that we can eat fewer McVeggie burgers in the future.
One of the perks of Jeff's job is that he gets a certain number of free video games and he also has access to a wonderful game library - he can borrow all kinds of games, not just ones made by EA. This week he brought home something we have rented before and really enjoyed, "The Sims". Apparently it is one of the best selling video games of all time. You have these little electronic people that you have to keep happy and help them on their path to greatness. It is surprisingly fun and addictive meddling in these people's lives -- Megan in particular enjoys it.
We have our first Vancouver social opportunity tomorrow! Someone I know through LLL has invited us over to her place for lunch and has invited another LLL Leader to join us with her three children. Then we will all go and pick berries afterward. I'm looking forward to a chance for some fun for all of us. I decided I would not worry about jam making this summer -- I'm trying to give myself lots of breaks right now due to the stress of all the upheaval we have been through. I'll try to take some pictures of the kids picking their berries tomorrow, and post any that look good.
