Procrastination...
So, I've been putting off writing here because I didn't really feel like sorting through, editing and posting the photos of the kids at the EA country fair! I decided today that the photos aren't important, I should just write.
A pretty slow couple of weeks lately... Jeff's been working a lot of overtime due to deadlines and the kids and I are finding the days quiet and long. We have managed to make a few connections with people here and I'm trying to get out and walk every day - exercise is supposed to be a good mood enhancer and I figure we can all use that when we are snapping at each other after being cooped up watching TV all day.
Lately I seem to be surrounded by car accidents so I'm feeling extra cautious about driving. Since we live downtown it's often difficult to avoid tricky driving situations - people do stupid things even though on the whole the drivers here seem much more courteous than in Toronto. My dad recently had to replace his car after an accident on the way to work and then on the weekend my brother apparently wrecked his car too. And I've seen three accidents in my neighbourhood in the past week!
Friday we finally got around to visiting the Chinese restaurant a couple of blocks from here that Jeff ate at with his friend Chris when he came to Vancouver for his job interview. It was worth the cost of eating out because I have never seen such an interesting vegetarian menu in my life. We ordered dishes with vegetarian "chicken", "beef" "shrimp" and also "bean curd skin bows" which turned out to be as yucky as the name sounds. We all agreed that the vegetarian chicken dish was the best.
I got a new LLL position last week, I am now one of three Regional Administrators of Leader Accreditation for the United States Western Division of La Leche League. I guess I am "moving up the ranks" of the Leader Accreditation Department. I think I will enjoy it. This job has a three year term so I am going to be juggling the responsibility with the usual parenting duties and my classes which I expect to start in September. (Speaking of "procrastination" I really need to fill out those financial aid applications!)
