Congratulations, Megan!
Our Taekwondo school decided to do an extra round of belt testing before year's end and Megan was selected on Tuesday to test for her yellow-stripe belt. She was very excited and bouncy all week whenever she thought of this upcoming event, which happened yesterday. This time I remembered to bring the camera. My apologies for the wacky look of this post, as I'm trying out the new blogger image uploading feature for the first time.
Master Kim gives these medals to everyone who advances from white belt. It has something on it about how your goal is to get a black belt. I mean, isn't that everyone's goal?? (After watching the sparring match between two people testing for purple belt yesterday, I am not so sure... those guys limped away from their belt test.)
This is one of the other Masters at our school. When you get your new belt, someone with a black belt ties it on for you.
Everyone has to break a board as part of their belt test. Megan broke this one using a jumping side kick. Although she did very well breaking the plastic practice boards beforehand, when it came to kicking an actual piece of wood in front of her teachers, she had a bit of trouble and needed to try multiple times. I don't know if I drew breath at all watching her run at that board over and over and not getting it. Eventually she did, and the whole room erupted in applause.
