still here
I'm not sure why, but I can't figure out what to write about these days! I thought I'd just start a post and see what comes out. My apologies in advance if this turns out to be boring.
We're now into the sixth week of our summer in Siam... err... I mean Toronto. (My apologies to non-Pogues fans). Thursday, we packed up our stuff and headed over to my mum's house. We'll be here till we leave for England during the first week in August. It was somewhat startling and disturbing to see how much more stuff we seemed to have on Thursday than we did when we were packing our bags back in Vancouver. I didn't think I had bought *that* much more stuff... Of course, that didn't stop me from going out and buying more books on Friday, some neat toys for the kids (because we can't resist a place as cool as Mastermind) and five pairs of boots on Saturday. I'd better make sure I include "a large duffel bag" on my shopping list at some point over the next few weeks, because I feel quite sure I will be acquiring more stuff while I'm in England. There is something about British bookstores that triggers uncontrollable spending in me - that something being an unassailable justification for buying books that "I know I would have a very hard time finding at home"...
We've had a great time catching up with old friends here, and now I'm feeling like I am done being social for a while so I've kept our calendar relatively clear for the next week or two. We need some time to relax. I want to sit out in the shade with a good book (which, hopefully, I've got on my shelf here), while Calum dreams up elaborate play scenarios with his Playmobil and lego, and Megan tries out her new kite.
