Baked, Roasted and Grilled
We're in the middle of a big heat wave here in Southern Ontario.
It's amazing how quickly I forgot about how an Ontario summer feels. I have spent the past couple of years feeling thrilled to pieces about the mild winters in Vancouver, and that has led me to overlook the extremes there are in summer, too. Yesterday I was out shopping, and just the walk between the car and the store entrance was enough for me. I could feel the intense heat in the air all around me. Last night, the temperature didn't drop much; if it weren't for the air conditioning here, I would probably not have slept a wink, but I still had a pretty restless night. I sleep best in a very cold room with a heavy blanket on, but clearly that wasn't in the cards last night.
So I feel like we're experiencing our first 'real' summer in two years. Time to dig out some shorts and hunker down with a cold glass of water and a good fluffy book.

NO! A "real" summer is one where it is warm enough for shorts and the beach, but not so hot that you can't breathe. Summer's are meant to be spent outdoors!! It's not real summer here!
