hanging out

Yesterday we tried to attend a picnic at which we expected to see a few familiar faces from our former homeschooling days. Unfortunately, we never found the group but we did meet up with one other family and ride the subway in to Toronto together. We had a lovely time catching up with them and exploring Toronto's High Park, which for some reason I have never been to. There is a very cool castle playground and a small, free zoo with buffalo, yaks, peacocks and even a wallaby. It was a perfect day for it - a nice mix of sun and cloud, and warm, but with a cool breeze.

Today we are taking it easy. I've started to throw off jet lag (though my sleeping schedule is still way out of whack) and am spending this morning trying to get organized and sort out our social schedule for the next couple of weeks. The kids are lazing around watching television. We definitely needed a break today!
