nose to the grindstone

Well, lucky me - my philosophy prof will be torturing my class with another of her delightful midterm exams (yes, we get TWO midterms!) on Tuesday. So, although it's a long weekend here (today is Remembrance day here in Canada) and the rest of my family is enjoying three days off from life, I will be sitting in front of the books hoping that my efforts pay off better than they did last time... We've been told this test is structured exactly like the last one, and when I asked point-blank for fewer of the "tricky wording" double- and triple-negative questions the professor said no. Sigh. Please send me vibes for mental clarity on Tuesday evening; I'm going to need it.

Good luck with the exam! I'm seriously annoyed that today is NOT a holiday in Ontario..at least not unless you work for the post office, a bank, or the government. We take days off to honour dead people, I don't understand why the ONE day honouring people both dead AND alive is not a stat holiday.

Hey, that's okay. It's one of my pet peeves too. I was shocked when I moved from BC to Ontario ... it made me feel like no one here takes this day seriously.
