For the birds...
Today we decided to take a trip out to one of our favourite nature spots in the Vancouver area, the George C. Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary. At this time of year, thousands of snow geese from Russia are spending part of the winter hanging out at the sanctuary, and when we saw them last year it was quite amazing. Alas, this time we were thwarted in our efforts to see the flock. We could certainly hear them but they were hanging out somewhere just far enough away from the trails that we could only catch brief glimpses of one or two geese flying around in the mist. It was very foggy today.
However, we did get to see plenty of ducks (mallards, buffleheads and wood ducks), coots, chickadees, and even a red-winged blackbird or two. Here are some photos...
