lazy day
We're having a sort of "nothing" day today. Calum is home from preschool with a cold and Megan didn't get up to go to school this morning. We're having a huge challenge with her ongoing resistance to getting up and ready and out the door in time to catch the bus. Last night I told her that I was sick of spending my mornings nagging, yelling and having power struggles with her. She loves going to school and that should be sufficient motivation to get up. I guess she didn't believe me when I said she would be responsible for getting herself up this morning because she didn't set her alarm. Hopefully things will go a little more smoothly for the rest of this week - poor Jeff has to get her up and out of here alone on Thursday, Friday and Monday while I'm in Chicago.
The workshop on Saturday went very well and people seemed to be overwhelmingly pleased with the Open Space format. There were several requests to do more workshops so maybe we'll set something else up for a few months from now. It was nice to see how productive everyone could be, and how much intense learning could take place without a pre-planned agenda or stressed-out presenters spending hours creating session outlines and feeling pressured to show expertise for a set period of time.
Calum is astounding me with his attention span today - except for a short break to play with Lego he has spent 3-4 hours on the nickjr.com website where they have a whole bunch of games for preschoolers. It has made such a nice change to have him doing that instead of in front of the TV. I wish I could say I am using this time productively but aside from doing a whole stack of laundry I have had a pretty slow day, getting lots of little things done but nothing major.
