nice views

One of the nice things about living here in Burnaby is that we get to see the mountains on the North Shore and the view is constantly changing. There are days we can't see them at all because of the clouds or mist. Other days there are wispy clouds sort of clustered around the mountains half way down, and sometimes there is a solid cloudy background behind them and the sun is shining onto the mountainside. It's so pretty. When you drive around and the level of daylight changes, you see the mountains from lots of angles and they always look different. The best thing is when you drive up over the crest of a hill and see it all laid out in front of you - particularly today, when the clouds weren't too low and we could see that for the first time this season there is snow cover at the tops of Mt. Seymour and Grouse Mountain. I bet the downhill skiers are thrilled about that. Considering that it's still not cold enough here to warrant more than a light jacket or sweater, I (not a downhill skier) am very happy to see snow looking pretty high up on a mountain instead of having to drive in it :-)

Another thing we see often are movie studios. I don't think I have mentioned before that we live a stone's throw from the seat of the Vancouver film industry and there are clusters of studios all around here, not to mention various film union buildings, industry-related businesses and such. There are places just up the road that rent books and props to the film industry. On Saturday at Stanley Park we saw a film crew shooting scenes on the beach.

Does this mean I have seen any famous people? Not yet... I can't say I am terribly observant but I had a friend once who lived in a suburb of Vancouver and once bumped into Colin Firth while she was out running errands in her community. I can only hope that I will be so lucky!
