autumn days
We went for the most amazing walk in Stanley Park yesterday. It was a lovely bright, crisp day and the ground was scattered with leaves from the (mostly maple) trees. Megan ran around collecting these huge leaves and some of them were bigger than her head - I guess because the trees are so old and tall there, they make bigger leaves -- I've never seen anything like them!
We parked at Prospect Point (I'll try and post a picture of the lovely view from there) and walked down through the trees to the sea wall. Stanley Park is located on a peninsula just west of the city and there's a path that goes all the way around the park right down at the water level. There is a steep cliff face on one side, and water on the other. It's nice to have a completely unobstructed view of the bay and see the boats out on the water.
Friday our Katimavik student came to stay with us for two weeks. The kids are loving having someone else around to play with and he seems to enjoy their company too. He'll continue to go up to Windsor House (Megan's school) to volunteer every day and join in whatever we happen to be doing evenings and weekends. Meanwhile we have introduced him to "Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic" and he is totally hooked so there is yet another person vying for use of the Xbox :-)
More big news - someone finally came to try and fix our bathtub on Friday!! Ever since we moved in it has never drained properly and now we can take showers without standing in six inches of water.
