relief

Jeff came home early last night (in time to have dinner with us all, no less!) with the very welcome news that:
* his project deadline has been moved three weeks later
* his supervisor has asked everyone not to stay longer than 12 hours at work per day
So maybe we will be seeing a bit more of him after this!!

We're keeping ourselves busy with our school routines and the usual mundane stuff. Recently we haven't accomplished much on the weekends because we need to decompress after very busy weeks, but Jeff & the kids have been making a point of leaving the house for at least a couple of hours every Sunday so I can have some time alone without any expectations or deadlines hanging over me.

Last weekend was the first of several "work party" days at Megan's school. Parents are expected to help out at least once a year at these things for three hours. They send out a list of jobs and work needing to be done around the school, people show up and they see how much they can get done. I was delighted to be one of the first ones there and get my pick of the jobs. There was a rather large number of books needing to be catalogued for the school library and I spent three happy hours sitting quietly putting labels and tape onto book spines. It sounds dull and repetitive, and I suppose it is, but I found it quite soothing. I spent most of my teens working in one library or another part-time on evenings and weekends and I really liked the work, especially the part where I got to spend hours sitting in front of a shelf of books and methodically going through them to make sure they were in dewey decimal order.

Meanwhile I have been making a point of spending Calum's preschool time (2 hours, four days a week) hanging around at home doing nothing special. All this much-needed relaxation is making life much easier than it was even a month ago.

I've been instructed to go and play a Star Wars game with Calum now, so off I go...
