bringing order from chaos
Just like the Borg queen!
We had our stuff delivered to the new apartment yesterday. The original plan was that all the painting could be done on the weekend before the movers came to drop off our belongings. There was a "mix up" and the painters didn't show up. So, on Tuesday we had to bring the contents of a decent sized 3 level townhome with garage and basement into a 3 bedroom apartment. Needless to say this was a challenge, particularly since I didn't have time before the move to whittle down our stuff and get rid of all the clutter. We ended up having them put the majority of our things into Calum's bedroom which the movers nicknamed "the garage". They joked there was even room left to park our car in there! (barely - and only if turned on its side!)
We managed to set up a place to sleep last night and this morning the painters arrived. It was a challenge keeping the kids away from the wet paint on the walls -- we couldn't leave because we were expecting someone to come in and set up our washer and dryer, and the cable guy was coming to install our digital cable and internet. To complicate matters I had to spend half an hour on the cellphone with Sprint trying to find out why our phones weren't getting a dial tone. In the middle of this chaos, a package arrived with our Broadband phone kit. So at this rate we will have our Toronto phone number piggybacked on our internet connection before we even have a local phone number.
With lots of patience we have managed to get through the day. Calum is napping, the paint is drying, I have my email back and Megan is sitting on the edge of her seat watching the final episode of Cardcaptors. Time to get to those boxes.
