We have a table!
Anyone who has visited our house in the past six years will no doubt have noticed our unique old formica table and very ugly, falling apart wooden school chairs which were our "temporary" dining set. Lots of times things that we don't intend to use for long end up becoming more or less permanent fixtures - in this case we just got used to our highly utilitarian table and chairs, because there wasn't anything seriously wrong with them (other than ugliness) and we couldn't see the point of buying a nicer set while Calum was young and destructive. Today we reached a bit of a milestone because not only did he turn 7, but we also happened upon a very reasonably-priced wooden table with four nice matching chairs in a used furniture store. I'm so excited!!
Pictures to follow after Jeff puts the legs on. Right now we are getting ready to go out for sushi, Calum's birthday dinner of choice, followed by cake and presents. Jet lag or not, we hope this has been a special day for him.

It's exciting you're getting a table and chairs but, you know, I always really liked your table. It was so retro. It looked like you'd paid a lot of money for it at some funky upscale shop on Queen West!
