Summer's over, fall is here!

Today is a day for new beginnings! Calum spent a successful first morning at his new child care program and seemed to thoroughly enjoy himself. I got to hang out there with him for two hours and we'll go back on Friday to spend an hour there together after which I'll leave him on his own for another hour or so. Gradually we'll work up to full days by the end of a couple of weeks. He seemed very comfortable, the kids were great and I think he will be happy there. I especially liked how gentle and calm the teachers are - I wonder if they could bottle that?

This evening is my first on-campus class - a two-hour philosophy lecture followed by an hour tutorial. I am looking forward to being in a classroom with other people and a professor lecturing up front. The prof has a positive rating on ratemyprofessor.com so hopefully she'll be an interesting speaker. I got a head start on my algebra course in August and will need to jump in and start doing at least one unit per week if I want to finish this before end of semester. I'm debating signing up for a third class now that I unexpectedly have two kid-free days each week... but I think I'll likely not do that, as my plate is quite full right now.

Jeff is off for the next few weeks now that his project is over, and he started his vacation in fine style this morning by picking up the parts for his much-anticipated new computer. We bought a nice desk at Ikea yesterday and it's all put together and ready to go. I think he's pretty excited!

We are going to have some lunch and then Megan and I will head to the mall to pick up a last few back to school clothing items.
