Kira
Our cat, Kira has really changed in the few days since we arrived here. Some of you have been asking how she is doing so I thought I'd write about her.
It's a long story but we had this other cat, Tali, for the past four years and he and Kira spent most of their time together in the unfinished basement of our townhouse. When we moved we realized it was time for Tali to find a new home as we expected we could only take one of them with us. I wasn't sure how Kira would handle all the stresses we were about to put upon her -- she tends to be a very nervous cat and we are usually hesitant to introduce any changes to her life. We were warned by the woman who took Tali that Kira might become depressed and go off her food when separated from him. We especially wondered how she would deal with the experience of being put into the airplane cargo hold in her cat carrier.
She was meowing loudly when I retrieved her from the airport personnel, but as soon as she saw me she quieted down and spent the next little while looking out at the world of the airport while we arranged for the rental car. She was very vocally irritated by the experience of riding in the car but perked right up when we let her out in the apartment.
I am happy to say that she appears to have improved for all this stress lately. She has actually become very dog-like, which is odd for me to say because I don't really like dogs. She trots around after us in the apartment, jumps up and runs to the door when we come home from running our various errands and sits at attention outside of doors when people go into a room and won't let her in. She is much more friendly and seems really happy instead of skulking around making loud miserable meowing noises which is what she used to do - oh, that and hiding underneath beds sleeping all day and hissing when people tried to get her out.
That's about all I am going to say because I hate it when people ramble on and on about their pets and I think that's what I am doing.
